Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about WCPI investigations, legality, pricing, timeline, and process.

Are your investigations legal? Is surveillance lawful? +

Yes. All WCPI investigations are conducted in full compliance with applicable state and local laws. We operate within strict legal boundaries:

  • We never trespass on private property without permission
  • We do not conduct illegal electronic surveillance
  • All observations are conducted from public spaces
  • We comply with jurisdiction-specific wiretap and recording laws
  • Evidence collected is admissible in legal proceedings

Our evidence packages are designed specifically for litigation use and attorney strategy.

How much does an investigation cost? +

WCPI pricing is transparent and based on scope:

  • Case Intake Review: $1,500 (upfront) — We evaluate actionability and strategic fit
  • Standard Investigation: $4,000 (typical single-destination case after acceptance)
  • Multi-Day or Complex Investigations: $6,500–$10,000 depending on scope, destination, and complexity
  • Membership Discount Models: Essential Employer ($3,500/mo), Professional Claims Defense ($7,500/mo), Enterprise ($15,000+/mo) offer preferred case pricing

The real question: How much does a questionable claim cost? A single false or questionable claim can easily exceed $50,000–$500,000+ in unnecessary WC exposure. A $4,000 investigation often pays for itself many times over.

How quickly can you deploy? +

Typically 48–72 hours after case acceptance. Our global investigator network is positioned in major vacation destinations worldwide. For Hawaii, Mexico, Caribbean, and Europe, we can deploy within 24 hours. Some international locations may require 5–7 business days due to logistics.

Speed matters—the sooner we observe, the fresher the evidence and the more likely we capture the claimant's actual activity patterns.

What if we submit a case and WCPI says it's not actionable? +

You lose the intake fee ($1,500), but you get valuable professional assessment. We turn down cases we don't believe will yield meaningful evidence or that are legally or strategically unsound. This protects you from spending $4,000+ on a low-yield investigation.

Many organizations find that the intake assessment alone—identifying red flags and actionability—is worth the fee for managing case risk and strategy.

What if the investigation doesn't find anything problematic? +

You still get a professional evidence package. The findings support legitimate claims, strengthen your defense against future challenges, and provide claims managers with documented consistency. This is valuable for:

  • Internal reserve decisions and claim acceptance
  • Defending against allegations of improper denial
  • Supporting fair and defensible claims strategy

Not finding fraud doesn't mean the investigation was wasted—it means you have documented, professional verification that the claim is legitimate or the claimant's activity aligns with their reported restrictions.

How long does a typical investigation take? +

From intake to evidence delivery: typically 10–12 business days. Breakdown:

  • Days 1–2: Intake review and assessment
  • Days 3–4: Acceptance and deployment coordination
  • Days 5–9: Field investigation (3–5 days typical)
  • Days 10–11: Evidence analysis and folder organization
  • Day 12: Delivery

For time-critical cases, we can accelerate. For complex or multi-location investigations, timelines may extend.

Yes. WCPI evidence packages are specifically structured for litigation use and attorney strategy. Our methodology ensures:

  • Photographs include metadata and timestamps
  • Field notes are contemporaneous and detailed
  • Observations are clearly documented and corroborated

  • Evidence is collected in compliance with applicable law

How does WCPI differ from other investigators? +

Three key differentiators:

  • Global Destination Network: Most firms investigate locally. WCPI specializes in destination-based investigations. Our global network enables rapid deployment to 25+ vacation destinations where claimants travel.
  • Litigation-Ready Deliverables: We don't just take pictures. Our evidence packages are structured for attorney use, appeals, and litigation. Every photo is indexed, every observation is chronologized, contradictions are documented.
  • Strategic Intake Assessment: We review for actionability before field deployment, saving you from wasting money on low-yield investigations. Our intake specialists ask hard questions upfront.
